Library rules for the Users:
  • General :
  • i) Maintaining silence in the Library and adjacent corridor is earnestly solicited .

    ii) Smoking or having foodstuffs inside the Library is prohibited.

    iii) Non academic use of Mobile Phones, Cameras etc. inside the Library is also prohibited.

  • Procedure for enrolment as library member:
  • i) Each student is eligible to be enrolled as a member of the college library. For this purpose they have to fill up “Library membership Form” obtainable from the circulation counter by showing their Admission Receipt / Fees Card .

    ii) Each student may borrow two books, 1 - against their Lending Card (for maximum 45 days and 1 – against their Book Bank Card (for maximum 1 session).They may borrow one or many books for consultation in Reading Room.

    iii) Permanent teacher members are entitled to borrow Maximum twenty 10 books for 90 days , the SACT /Guest Teacher Members are entitled to borrow maximum 5 books for 45days. A non-teaching staff is entitled to borrow 5 books for 45 days.

    iv) Ex-student, Ex-staff (both teaching and non-teaching) of the College and outsiders are entitled to use the Reading Room and reference section of the college library with special permission of the authority.

    v) Membership of a student will remain valid till he/she appears in his/her examinations and will be renewed when he/she gets admitted to the next class.

    vi) Students may be held responsible for the loss, damage, defacement or mutilation of books. They are liable to punishment in such a way as may be determined by the Librarian.

  • Borrowing of books:
  • i) All members will have to come to the college library personally to take book on loan.

    ii) For borrowing books against Lending Card and Book Bank Card students have to deposit their demands through requisition slip in the circulation counter.

    iii) For borrowing books against Reading Room Card students have to deposit their demands through requisition slip in the circulation counter. Within a short period, the books are issued to them by library staffs.

    iv) Before leaving the library students are required to return the Text books/Reference books/Journals issued to them for consultation in the reading room.

    v)Before leaving the Library Issue Counter the borrower is to be sure that the issued book is in perfect condition in all respects.

    vi) Only those books, which are fully processed and shown in the catalogue, are issued for home use. Rare and valuable books, art books with plates and reference books are not be issued for home use.

  • Renewal of Books:
  • i) Borrowed books may be renewed (not more than two times) on return, provided the book is not on demand by the other members. A book, which is in great demand, shall not be reissued to the same person consecutively.

    ii) The Librarian may at any time recall any book, if necessary, before the expiry of its renewal period.

  • Restricted categories of reading materials :
  • i) Reference books, periodicals, rare books etc. are not ordinarily lent out. However, photocopies of such materials may be available, subject to copyright restrictions, as per the library reprographic service rules.

    ii) Some books carry the stamp “Not to be Lent Out” These are issued for consultation in the reading room only and not for home issue.

  • Loss/Damage of library books :
  • In case of loss or damage of a book or any other reading material, the member responsible for the loss/damage are required to replace the current edition of the book. If the book is out of print and not available in the market, the member will have to deposit.5 times of the price of the book available from the Accession Register and all kinds of borrowing facilities for the member concerned will remain suspended until the matter is finalized.

  • Loss of library Cards :
  • Library Cards are to be kept and preserved carefully. Loss of Library Card will hamper your studies as the issuance of Duplicate Cards is a time-taking process. Firstly, it has to be reported immediately in writing to the Librarian. To enable such members to continue the membership, duplicate library cards may be issued on payment of Rs.10/-(for each card) in the College Office.

  • Rules and procedures relating to reprographic services and facilities :
  • i) The library reprographic service are rendered primarily for providing the members of the college library with photocopies of the library materials as permissible by the Librarian in accordance with the copyright act.

    ii) Any member of the college library may submit requisition with ‘fair use’ declaration. The photocopies will be made available at the particular time.

  • Termination of Membership:
  • i) To have his/her membership terminated, a member is to return all books borrowed from the library as well as his/her library cards.

    ii) Student members are not permitted to sit for the final examination until he/she furnishes a library clearance certificate from the librarian to the college office.

    iii) In case of staff member of the college the Bursar and the Accountant shall settle his/her accounts with the college only, on production of a library clearance certificate from the librarian.

  • Overdue charges:
  • The overdue charge for late return of books are counted at the following rates:

    i) For late return of books borrowed against lending card a fine of 1.00 /- per day (some time librarian may decide the fine) shall be charged from the student members.

    ii) In case of staff member a fine of Rs.1/- per day will be charged for late return of books borrowed from the library and no books will be issued further until the library committee finalizes the matter.

    iii) For late return of books borrowed against Reading Room Card (Day Issue) Rs.1/- per book per day is charged as fine, after which the Reading Room Card is seized until finalization of the matter.
