Membership :-

The membership of the Library is open to all students, teachers and non-teaching employees of the college. Ex-students, Ex-staff and outsiders are provided reading facilities only. All categories of members are entitled to borrow books from the library. For this purpose students have to fill up the library membership form, available from the library by producing their Admission Receipt/Fees Book. After submission of their membership form, they are registered as library members and get three library cards – One Lending Card, One Book Bank Card and One Reading Room Card, within seven days. Student members have to renew their library card(s) every year. The teacher members have to produce their appointment letter during registration as library member.

Personal belongings e.g. bag , personal book, portfolio etc. should be deposited at the counter for which a token will be issued. Valuable belongings like cash, ornaments etc. should not be kept. Facilities provided for depositing personal belongings at the counter can be enjoyed only for the period the depositor is physically present in the Library.

There is author/title catalogue for books in English, Bengali and Sanskrit languages. The main guide to locate books in the library is the Author title catalogue. In the Author-title catalogue the cards (entries) are arranged under the names of the authors/editors/translators and title, for every book in the Library. All the cards (entries) author/editor/translator/title in the Author-Title catalogue are arranged in alphabetic sequence like a dictionary.

Our Library reading room follows the Open Access System.

Internet searching is available in the UGC Network Resource Centre of the library.

Some poor, needy and physically handicapped students are entitled to borrow books from the “Book Bank” Section on long-term loan (90days) based against their Book Bank Card.
