Library Benefits

Description of Achievements

Acquisition and processing of 3842 new books.

Utilization of grants from different funds.

Addition of 1 National News Paper & 2 new journals.

Bar coding of books & member cards for easy issue - return system.

Increase of ten seat capacity in the Students Reading Room.

Installation of extra PC’s in staff and student Reading Room for Internet search.

Initiation of Wi-Fi connectivity in the library.

Initiation for the benefit of the disabled Students.

Initiation of advance Reprography Service for the Users.

Library started automated issue return service to the users from January 2022.

Future Programme:

Separate section for PG students.

We will arrange more Book Exhibition in a year.

The "U.G.C. NET WORK RESOURCE CENTRE" will be opened to all the Students as well as the teachers to access online e-books and e-journals.

Best Library User award given separately for Arts & Science Faculty Students.

The entire Library is to be air-conditioned and this is in our future plant.

General Services :-
Circulation Service :

The Circulation system in the library provides a number of services such as: Registration of new members and renew the membership of existing members, check-out (issue) and check-in (return) of books, reservation of books.

Literature Search Service :

Upon receiving a request for a literature search from the faculty member, the librarian will perform a search of relevant online databases and provide a list of references, including authors, titles, journal source and abstracts to the requestor.

E-Resource Search Service :

The library has set up a separate and dedicated internet service area for the users 06 PCs has been installed for students and 2 PCs for teacher member to access the internet and online resources.

Reference Service :

The Library provides reference service to users as per their requirements and needs and it is a prompt service.

Extempore Suggestions :

Readers base their information on any book not in the library.

Services to the physically challenged users :

There is a wheelchair at the entrance of the College Library for the purpose of facilitating access to physically challenged users in the library. In addition, there is a separate reading shit in the reading room.

Current Awareness Service :

New Arrivals Display Board Service

Newly added books to the library are displayed on the New Arrivals Display Board. The purpose is to bring the newly added books to the notice of the users.

New Arrivals Alert Service

The list of newly added books and other reading materials are sent in emailed to the concern department.

Journal and Magazine Content Alert Service:

The Journal content pages are scanned and sent to the faculty members.

Reprography Service:

Subject to copyright regulations, Library material can be photocopied on payment basis. Photocopy (black & white) service shall be provided to the users on permission to the Librarian Charges for Xeroxing shall be Rs.1 per exposure for A-4 size copy .

Orientation & Information Literacy Programmes :

All the newly enrolled students are made aware about the various facilities provided by the College Library every year during Orientation Programme organized on the very first day of the start of the new academic session.

Web-OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)

The library has fully computerized its most actively used collection, which is searchable through KOHA Library Management System for Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The Web-OPAC allows search by author, title, subject, call number, keywords and Boolean search. The Web-OPAC is very user-friendly and enables searches to be conducted with ease and speed.
